Co-founder of Litecoin who formerly also was the Director of Engineering at major cryptocurrency platform Coinbase, Charlie Lee, recently made an official announcement about becoming a new adviser to HTC for their Exodus smartphone.
Exodus is going to be the first ever smartphone in the market which will be concentrated on decentralized applications and information security. The new smartphone is planned to be officially released in autumn this year. According to HTC, the new smartphone will be an “attempt to reshape the internet and make decentralization a reality”.
In addition, it was reported that the new device will be especially dedicated to the users of cryptocurrencies as it will be possessing list of appropriate features. As reported by HTC, Exodus is going to be aiming at achieving blockchain inter-operability and hence each released device will act as a “node on the Bitcoin and Ethereum networks”. It will also be possible to use the features of the device as a universal wallet for all the crypto funds of the users.
As Charlie Lee announced about joining the project as a new adviser, he mentioned about a recent meeting with the company leaders and signing the official contract already. In his post on Twitter, Lee stated: “met the HTC Exodus team last week and was really excited to hear the phone will support LTC and Lightning Network on Litecoin natively! I will be an adviser as I see having a secure crypto phone that makes LN simple is needed for mass adoption. P.S. No, they will not remove BTC”.
From HTC side, Chief Crypto Officer on the project, Phil Chen was quick to warmly welcome Lee to the team publicly on Twitter page expressing hope for future productive cooperation. The original post by Chen stated: “privileged for the Exodus Phone to be working with Charlie Lee. Excited to be on this journey with you!”.
