Hollywood is working on an upcoming indie film about cryptocurrencies which will feature such stars as Kurt Russell, Beau Knapp, Alexis Bledel, Jeremie Harris and Luke Hemsworth as main characters. The information was passed by The Hollywood Reporter which also stated that the new film will be called Crypto that was written by Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio.
General plot of the film was also revealed by the source, which stated that Crypto will be about a young anti-money laundering agent who is played by Beau Knapp. He returns to his hometown in New York in order to investigate a case of corruption and fraud. Russell will be playing the father of Knapp’s character,
According to the producers of the movie, Crypto is going to be “a thriller in the vein of The Firm and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo with a decidedly cryptocurrency-focused twist”.
“Cryptocurrency has captured the attention and imagination of consumers and entrepreneurs all over the world but has never been explored in film in such a nuanced and exciting way”, said one of the producers of the new movie, Jordan Yale Levine.
It was also reported that the new independent film is already shooting in New York. Meanwhile the release date of the movie has not yet been officially announced.
According to experts, the new movie Crypto has the potential of being considered as one of the most high-profile films of these days in the cryptocurrency world. Back in 2017, it was reported that the famous Coen brothers who are the filmmakers behind such popular movies as “The Big Lebowski”, “No Country For Old Men” etc., were working on a movie about the Silk Road (a dark market that used to deploy bitcoin as its central currency).
Meanwhile Crypto is of the few movies that have been featuring cryptocurrency theme recently. One of the most notable movies on this topic is Vietnamese “Bitcoin Heist” which went on being very successful.
